Kilimanjaro-The Adventure!
Push for the PEAK
Welcome to the Rotary International District 7680 2012 Kilimanjaro Climb website.
Most of the climbers have arrived in Africa! They are posting on Facebook pictures of the views and of each other. What an exciting time for them, and for Rotary as we have nearly reached our fundraising goal. We're 3/4 of the way there. We need your support if we are to eradicate polio from the world.
The cost to vaccinate 1 child can be as low as $0.60. When considering the pain and suffering that $0.60 can prevent, it’s hard to imagine how anything else can purchase so much for so little.
While we highly recommend you sponsor one or more of our climbers, you may make a general donation in support of the effort by pressing this button:
PLEASE JOIN ME IN WISHING SAFE TRAVELS TO OUR ROTARY DISTRICT 7680 KILI CLIMBERS! THE FIRST CLIMB IS SEPTEMBER 10-15, 2012, THE 2nd CLIMB IS SEPTEMBER 24-29.
THE TIME IS HERE! WE ARE SO CLOSE TO ERADICATING POLIO FROM THE WORLD. ONLY 3 COUNTRIES LEFT: PAKISTAN, AFGANISTAN AND NIGERIA. FOR THE PRICE OF A CUP OF COFFEE OR PIZZA, SEVERAL CHILDREN CAN BE SAVED.
On Saturday, September 15, 2012, join Rotarians, Family and Friends at Crowders Mountain State Park. Rotary District 7680 is coordinating a celebration! Our 30 Kili Climbers will have reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro! This event is to raise awareness of Rotary and contribute to Rotary’s signature project “End Polio Now”. Donations welcome. T-shirts are available for $25 donation.
Registration starts at 8:30 am at Shelter House #2. Climb to Kings Pinnacle starts at 9:00 am. Also join us to walk around the lake.
No cost to enter park or participate. If you can't join us in person, please join us in spirit. Donations to "End Polio Now" are welcome. For the cost of a candy bar or cup of coffee, several children can be innoculated. Please support Rotary's mission to end polio in our world. Kili Climber t-shirts are available for $25 donation. Rotary District 7680 Fund is a 501(c)3 organization.
30 Rotarians from District 7680 will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro September 10-15, 2012. We will be the first United States Rotarians to summit the peak as a group. Paired with the Kili climb will be a local walk at Crowders Mountain State Park on September 15, 2012. Macon Dunnagan (Charlotte-South) will lead the Kili climbs. To date, Macon has summitted Kili 20 times, most recently in January 2012.
We are very excited to announce that 32 Rotarians are currently signed up to participate in wonderful event to help rid the world of Polio. Each climber has committed to raise at least $3,000 toward Rotary’s signature project to End Polio Now. We have a need for establishing a group of climbing alternates for this trip. In addition to the September 10-15 climb, Macon has added September 24-29, 2012, to accommodate Rotarians outside of District 7680 and other friends and family; there are openings for climbers.
Please look here for information concerning the climb, schedule, participant directory, FAQ and materials needed by climbers.
We will also host sponsorship information and provide the ability to sponsor a climber from this site.
